Candyland

Candyland

Translation

In No Future, Lee Edelman argues that the societal obsession with the imaginary child, a phenomenon he terms “reproductive futurism,” precludes radical liberatory politics that center the current world and its inhabitants.

Gameplay

In this queer version of Candyland, players act as the symbolic child and move through different realms of politcal discourse, including the Human Rights Campaign Graveyard and The Vast Wasteland of Heteronormativity. Question cards such as, “You are at a climate change rally and see a ‘For The Children’ sign. Come up with a better slogan,” ask players to relate Edelman’s argument to larger political contexts. The first player to reach the end, thus killing the symbolic child, wins!
